Lions Divisional Round Playoff Tickets Hit Staggering Prices With Matchup Set
The Detroit Lions have been one of the Super Bowl favorites all season long, thanks to their high-powered offense. Yet, the bye they earned by beating the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18 and earning the No.1 seed was much needed. That said, with all but one Wild Card game finished, it's time to look forward to the Divisional Round.
On Sunday night, the Washington Commanders defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20. Washington's victory meant that Detroit did not have to wait for the result of Monday's night game to find out their opponent. The Commanders were the sixth seed, meaning they were the lowest seed remaining and the Lions' next opponent.
Naturally, the fans of both franchises and the NFL world got excited about this matchup as both teams had exciting offenses to watch. As a result, the tickets for this game are already being sold at a higher price point ($470) than all the other games combined ($465), according to ESPN's ticket data.
Lions News: Lions/Commanders tickets are highest priced on the market
As mentioned above, both teams have explosive offenses that can put up points. The Lions finished the 2024 season as the best-scoring offense with 70 total touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Commanders finished with the sixth-best scoring offense this season with 55 total touchdowns.
Defensively, the Commanders have played way above their skis with the talent they have on that side of the ball. Their defensive success can attributed to their head coach, Dan Quinn, who understands how to scheme a good defense, no matter the talent he has to work with.
The same can be said for Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who has somehow kept Detroit humming despite all their injuries. Nonetheless, it's hard to see either of these defenses making many stops when they play each other Saturday night.
Moreover, this will be Washington's first divisional-round game since 2005. That year, they lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the same round.
Therefore, it's not hard to see why fans from both franchises have quickly made these the highest-priced tickets on the market.
