The Lions are getting set for perhaps the biggest game of their season this week, hosting the Bills in a potential Super Bowl preview on Sunday afternoon. Detroit doesn't need any help to win this game but still received a bit of fortune on Thursday.

Inclement weather plagued Buffalo and the Bills were unable to practice. Considering how important this matchup is, missing an entire day of practice represents a massive loss. Dan Campbell, Ben Johnson, and Aaron Glenn will have their team ready.

Meanwhile, Sean McDermott is already behind the curve. Luckily, the game will be played in Detroit, continuing the list of advantages for the Lions.

Bills Forced to Cancel Practice Before Lions Game

The Bills did still have a virtual practice, so not all work was lost. Regardless, there's an inherent value to actually getting on the field and conducting a legitimate practice.

Against a complex scheme like the Lions have, you need as much time working as you can get. There's a reason this team is atop the NFC and has 11 straight wins. This is a big test for both teams, and it has a significant impact on the races for the one seed in each conference. Should the Lions win, both conferences will likely be wrapped up.

Detroit is currently a 2.5-point favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook over Buffalo for good reason. Since weather won't be an issue, the Bills don't have any advantage to dealing with it during practice this week. It's merely a nuisance, causing preparation problems before the week's marquee matchup.

After losing 44-42 to the Rams last week, the Bills' defense is reeling. Johnson's offense will have an extra day of prep as an extra advantage, so it's probable we'll see at least one trick play that Buffalo didn't prepare for.

Even though it's cold in Detroit, the Lions play in a dome. They can enjoy the warm confines of the facility while the Bills are struggling with snow. This isn't a fair fight and the Lions should feast accordingly.

No matter what happens on Sunday, there's no question that this news is a surprise benefit for Detroit.
