The Detroit Lions have experienced a lot of turnover among the coaching staff since the season came to an end. Despite losing multiple key coaches, they have replaced those guys and are going full steam ahead for the next season.

It's all about adding more difference-makers to an already talented team. The NFL Scouting Combine is happening this week in Indianapolis, and general manager Brad Holmes spoke with reporters on Tuesday. During that session, he revealed the team had begun extension talks with Aidan Hutchinson but was asked if the team would look at adding another elite pass rusher.

Holmes responded, "Probably not.”

Lions Aren’t Looking to Add Elite Pass-Rusher This Offseason

According to Spotrac, the Lions will have around $48 million available in cap space, so they can afford to bring in top-notch edge rushers, but it wouldn't come cheap. With extensions for Jahmyr Gibbs, Jameson Williams, and Hutchinson on the horizon, shelving out top dollar on top of draft capital isn't in the plans for the Lions.

With names like Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby potentially on the move this offseason, they could have been enticing options. Harold Landry is another name who was put on the trade block on Wednesday but that won't be the lane Detroit takes.

While Hutchinson is rehabbing from a broken left tibia and fibula that he suffered last year, he will be the Lions' main threat off the edge. In his first three seasons in the league, he's shown the ability to be disruptive in the backfield.

Across 39 career games, Hutchinson has recorded 82 solo tackles, 30 TFLs, 65 QB hits, and 28.5 sacks. He's finished with at least 7.5 sacks in each season and will easily command $30 million plus on his next deal.

Detroit is thinking about their cap situation down the line, and Holmes doesn't see a way they can add an elite pass rusher to the fold.
