The Detroit Lions will make their first selection of the 2025 NFL Draft in less than two weeks as they own the No. 28 overall selection after going 15-2 and capturing the NFC North title during the 2024 campaign.

While we will all have to wait and see who the Lions ultimately choose once their time on the clock begins, it appears as though one of the team's veteran defenders just made an exciting selection of his own as he announced some major personal news via Instagram earlier this week.

Celebrating an engagement is a special time in anyone's life but, when you take into consideration the hurdles that Onwuzurike has been forced to overcome due to injuries since he joined the Lions as a second-round pick in 2021, this union has to feel like winning a championship for the former Washington Huskies standout.

Onwuzurike re-signed with Detroit this offseason on a one-year deal that could pay him a total of $5.5 million, if he reaches all of the incentives included in the contract, after recording 28 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one forced fumble during the 2024 campaign.

After struggling with back issues that forced the defensive tackle to undergo surgery and miss the entire 2022 season, Onwuzurike enters this year in good health and, now, a long-term partner by his side as Levi and his teammates now set their sights on bringing a Vince Lombardi Trophy to Detroit.

As things stand, the Lions have the fifth-best odds (+1000) at FanDuel Sportsbook to win the Super Bowl. Should Onwuzurike show improvement, it'll go a long way in helping a Lions defense that struggled down the stretch, largely due to injuries. For now, it's exciting to see him celebrate such a special time in his life.
