Lions Make Big Playoff Announcement Ahead of Divisional Round Game
By Joe Summers
The Lions officially secured the NFC North and No. 1 seed in the playoffs after a dominant 31-9 victory over the Vikings to cap off a magical 15-2 season. Fans are thrilled for good reason, and now the organization made a big announcement ahead of the Divisional Round contest in a couple of weeks.
A limited number of tickets will become available for purchase starting at 2:00 PM CT on Monday. The game will either take place on January 18 or 19, though it depends on the results of the Wild Card matchups.
Detroit obviously has the bye and a nice stretch of time to rest. The Lions will take on the lowest remaining seed, making the Eagles (No. 2 seed) and Buccaneers (No. 3) the only two teams they cannot face.
Lions Releasing NFC Divisional Round Playoff Tickets for Sale on Monday
Every game in Wild Card weekend features some intrigue. The Eagles host the Packers, the Buccaneers host the Commanders, and the Rams host the Vikings. If Green Bay upsets Philadelphia, they're guaranteed to travel to Detroit for the Divisional game.
However, things get interesting if there are any upsets. Theoretically the Lions could host the Commanders, Vikings, or Rams depending on what happens. If all of the favorites at FanDuel Sportsbook win, then we'd see a rematch of Week 18 between the Vikings and Lions while the Eagles would host the Buccaneers.
Detroit would be a comfortable favorite over any of these teams. They closed as only 2.5-point favorites in Week 18 but won by 22, clearly looking like the superior squad. After falling short in the NFC Championship in 2023, the Lions have bigger goals in mind in hopes of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy for the first time in franchise history.
Playoff tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, the official ticket provider of the team. Hopefully, Detroit will host two playoff games en route to the Super Bowl, but they're fully focused on winning in a couple of weeks first.
The Lions are betting favorites (+300) to win it all at FanDuel, narrowly ahead of the Chiefs (+350) of the AFC. Based on how good this team has looked in recent weeks, it's only right that they're leading the field.
