The Detroit Lions' offense has been on fire since their rough performance in Week 1. In each of the last four games, they have scored 34 or more points. Given all the weapons they have on offense, Detroit figuring things out after Week 1 was always going to happen.

That said, there has been one Lions receiver who has been relatively quiet to begin 2025. That player is fourth-year receiver Jameson Williams. After a breakout campaign in 2024, fans expected Williams to continue ascending this season. Unfortunately, through the first five games, that has not been the case.

Head coach Dan Campbell spoke about Williams and his contributions to the offense following Detroit's 37-24 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Campbell said, " He {Jameson Williams} gets a lot of attention his way when he's out there. They don't particularly want him to go over their head, so there's a lot of looks where they play very deep or play a shell look over the top of him."

He added," He {Williams} has helped in other ways and doesn't let it affect him." The 24-year-old receiving this type of praise from his head coach is a great sign.

Dan Campbell Gives Glowing Review of Jameson Williams Despite Lack of Production

Lions fans should be encouraged by Campbell's comments. Prior to last season, Williams was suspended multiple times, which brought up character concerns with some fans. Despite staying out of major trouble last season, the 24-year-old still got into a few altercations on the field.

While the wide receivers coach, Antwaan Randle El, addressed those issues right when they happened, people questioned if Williams' maturity would continue without Randle El. Campbell's comments prove that the former Alabama star is maturing.

In previous seasons, Williams may have complained he wasn't getting the ball. Five games into the season, he has recorded just 11 receptions on 21 targets for 223 yards and one touchdown. This dip in production comes after a season when he caught 58 passes on 91 targets for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns.

Most receivers would be visually or verbally upset about not getting the ball after a season like that. However, Campbell has coached his team to understand the importance of being a team player, and that means blocking as a receiver. If Williams continues to contribute to blocking his big game through the air is most certainly coming.
