The Detroit Lions secured the NFC North title in 2024 after going 15-2. They will look to continue their dominance next season. Free agency is set to begin next week, and there will be a ton of movement happening.

With the Lions having some decisions to make regarding their own guys and other players on the market, the latest report revealed that the Minnesota Vikings could be getting worse. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, decision-makers around the league are expecting Sam Darnold to sign a multi-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.

With that being the assumption, the Vikings will reportedly try to sign Daniel Jones. If that falls through, Minnesota could be interested in signing Aaron Rodgers.

NFL News: Vikings Are Looking at Multiple Options at QB

On Friday, the Seattle Seahawks traded Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. They now have a void at quarterback, and Darnold seems poised to be the replacement. The 27-year-old had a breakout season in 2024 for the Vikings. He ranked fifth in the NFL in passing yards (4,319) and passing touchdowns (35) while completing 66% of his passes.

These numbers have made him the hottest quarterback on the market, and he's on his way out of Minnesota. The Vikings have J.J. McCarthy on the team, but he missed the entire 2024 season with a meniscus injury. He could be their starter next season, but Minnesota would want a veteran in the room. That's why names like Jones and Rodgers are being reported.

Regardless, the Vikings are playing with fire by letting Darnold walk. Jones has been underwhelming in the pros, which led to him getting released by the New York Giants last season. Rodgers, 41, isn't the same MVP signal-caller that he was in his prime with the Packers. And while McCarthy has the physical tools Minnesota looks for, he's already suffered a season-ending injury and has zero reps in a regular season contest.

There's going to be a lot of movement in the Vikings quarterback room, and that's music to the ears of Lions fans. Minnesota was Detroit's biggest competition last season, as they went 14-3 and finished second in the division.

Instead of running it back, they're planning to make some big changes to the offensive side of the ball.
