Lions Pro Bowl Announcement Matches All-Time Record for Detroit
This has already been the best season in Detroit Lions history, and the hope is that a run of postseason success will also provide a couple of important firsts in franchise history, as the team eyes both making and winning the Super Bowl for the first time.
But the dominant regular season is already worth celebrating, with the team setting some impressive franchise records. The latest, we learned on Thursday morning, was the Lions have matched their franchise record for most Pro Bowl selections in a single season.
Lions' 7 Pro Bowlers Ties Franchise Record
Seven Detroit Lions were named to the 2025 Pro Bowl roster — a franchise record that was first set all the way back in 1951 and has only been matched one other time since 1965. The Lions also had seven selections last season, which was their first time even topping five since 1992. The list of Lions making the Pro Bowl this year is:
- Jared Goff (QB)
- Jahmyr Gibbs (RB)
- Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR)
- Penei Sewell (OT)
- Frank Ragnow (C)
- Brian Branch (SS)
- Jack Fox (P)
All five of the offensive selections have made the Pro Bowl before (four of them doing so last season as well). This is Fox's second Pro Bowl selection (first making it in 2021), and Branch's first.
Those seven selections were also the second most for any team this season, ranking behind the Baltimore Ravens (nine selections) and Philadelphia Eagles (six).
Of course Lions fans will also likely find there to be some notable snubs. Kerby Joseph would have been an obvious choice to give Detroit a new franchise record with eight, but apparently it will take a couple more years of dominance before the Lions really start to get the respect they actually deserve.
Detroit also has much bigger fish to fry than worrying about the Pro Bowl. They're only sitting as 2.5-point favorites (per FanDuel Sportbsook) in a fight for the No. 1 seed in the NFC against the Vikings on Sunday night, and at +200 are still far from a lock to win the NFC Championship.
