The Detroit Lions have high expectations going into 2025. They posted a franchise-best 15-2 record last season, and they were able to do so without Aidan Hutchinson for the majority of the season.
In the Week 6 contest against the Dallas Cowboys, Hutchinson suffered a broken tibia and fibula in his left leg. He had to undergo surgery and countless rehab sessions so he could hit the ground running in 2025.
Detroit added defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers to the staff this offseason, and he revealed that Hutchinson looks "really good" from what he has seen up close thus far.
Kacy Rodgers Says Aidan Hutchinson Looks Good
This is the exact update Lions fans want to hear, considering Hutchinson is the team's best defensive player when healthy.
Having an elite pass rusher off the edge is a must-have for any real contender, and Hutchinson is the player who could do that for Detroit. All his rehab reports have been positive, so it looks like he'll be ready to play once the season starts in September.
The biggest question mark is how effective he'll be in 2025. In 39 career games with the Lions, he has recorded 122 total tackles, 30 TFLs, 65 QB hits, and 28.5 sacks.
Prior to going down, Hutchinson was on pace for a massive campaign, as he notched 7.5 sacks and 17 QB hits through six games. He was consistently generating pressure in the backfield, and the Lions are hoping he can get back to the level at some point next season.
Everything takes time, and Hutchinson's willingness to attack rehab head-on will certainly have a positive impact. It's all about getting through OTAs and training camp healthy before even thinking about the regular season.
The fact that Rodgers is already saying good things about how Hutchinson looks on the field is a fantastic sign.
