The Detroit Lions have a massive offseason ahead. After going 15-2 during the 2024 season but getting eliminated in the divisional round, there was a ton of turnover on the coaching staff.
The Lions finalized their coaching staff on Tuesday, and now the attention is onto improving this roster for next season.
While they prepare for that, they got big news regarding receiver Jameson Williams. According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Williams won't face any disciplinary action for carrying an unlicensed gun this fall.
Jameson Williams won't face NFL discipline for carrying an unlicensed gun from the fall, but the Detroit Lions WR has a big offseason looming as he's eligible for a contract extension - or at least having his 5th year option exercised https://t.co/PAHMf9Nd36 via @freep

Jameson Williams Won’t Get Suspended by NFL
Birkett wrote, "Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams will not face further NFL discipline after he avoided charges for carrying an unlicensed gun in Detroit during the season as a league spokesperson told the Free Press on Wednesday the matter is 'closed.'"
During a police stop, Williams was handcuffed but eventually released without charges. The 23-year-old had already been suspended twice in his young NFL career. Those two prior instances were for violating the league's gambling and performance-enhancing drug polices.
Avoiding any legal and league trouble is massive for Williams as he's eligible for a contract extension this offseason. The Lions also have until May to exercise the fifth-year option on Williams' contract.
Williams is coming off the best year of his career, highlighting why the Lions made him the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. This past season, Williams had 58 receptions (91 targets) for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns. In addition, he averaged 17.3 yards per reception.
The Alabama product is an explosive playmaker in the aerial attack and can now focus on sharpening his craft this offseason without this situation hanging over his head.
