Over the past two years, the Detroit Lions have risen to juggernaut status in the NFL. They went on a surprising run to reach the NFC Championship Game in 2023 and finished with the top seed in the NFC in 2024 and an endearing cast of characters has thrust them into the national spotlight.
The Lions star turn comes with plenty of exposure as they’ll have five nationally televised games this season. While a trip to see the Philadelphia Eagles on Nov. 16 will be circled on everyone’s calendar, a road game at the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 12 is another one that’s must-see TV.
While the two teams are in opposite conferences, the game has plenty of intrigue, and it caused a Lions star to stir the pot a few months in advance.
Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown Says Kansas City is a Terrible Place to Live
Amon-Ra St. Brown took the first shot at the Chiefs when he hosted Houston Texans wide receiver Jaylin Noel on his podcast. St. Brown asked Noel, who is a Kansas City native, what the differences were going from the midwest to the south. After Noel compared the speed and humidity of Houston to Kansas City, St. Brown fired a stray at his hometown.
"I've been to Kansas City, I was there for the draft. Bro I'm sorry, if you have money, I'm not living here after I get some money."

“I’ve been to Kansas City. I was there for the draft [in 2023],” St. Brown said. “Bro, I’m sorry. If you have money, like I’m not living there after I get some money.”
Noel briefly defended his hometown with a smile but later admitted “there’s more to do” in Dallas, where he plans to move in with his fiancee. Regardless, St. Brown probably knew what he was doing with his remarks.
The Lions and the Chiefs could be a Super Bowl preview. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Chiefs have the fourth-best odds to win the Super Bowl at +800, and the Lions are right behind them at +800. There’s also warm memories for Detroit fans at Arrowhead Stadium after the Lions defeated the Chiefs 21-20 as Kansas City celebrated a championship in the 2023 season opener.
That win announced the Lions' arrival to the rest of the league, and the Chiefs probably want some revenge for that moment. Either way, St. Brown’s comments give the Lions’ opponent some more bulletin board material and should make for a premier matchup when the two teams meet on Oct. 12.
