The 2025 NFL Draft is finally around the corner, and teams around the league are looking to finalize their draft boards. The Detroit Lions are seeking to add more talent to the roster after an early postseason exit.

The Lions hold the No. 28 pick in the first round and are hoping to add an impact player at that spot. ESPN's Peter Schrager released his annual mock draft based on what he hears around the league. In that mock, Schrager had the Lions selecting Michigan CB Will Johnson.

Schrager is one of the most plugged-in NFL experts around, and for some reason, it looks like Johnson will have a draft day slide.

Johnson is one of the top two CB prospects in this class. He was a three-year starter at Michigan and provided them with a lockdown defender. Johnson is a fluid and long athlete who has great footwork. The 22-year-old has elite play recognition skills to break on the ball with ease. In 32 collegiate games, Johnson had 237 total tackles, 10 pass deflections, and nine interceptions.

His stock has taken a hit since he missed time last season with a foot injury, which caused a slip in his play. He also sat out of Michigan's Pro Day because of his hamstring injury. These combinations of things could have him falling down the board, and that would be a blessing for the Lions.

Johnson is clearly one of the best prospects in this draft class and would give Detroit a tremendous player who would give them a lockdown weapon for the future.

The Lions already have Terrion Arnold and D.J. Reed in the secondary, but adding Johnson would provide Detroit with one of the best groups in the league.

We'll have to see how things unfold but if this happens, Detroit will be pulling off a draft day heist.
