One of the few key pieces the Detroit Lions lost this offseason was veteran cornerback Carlton Davis, who signed a lucrative long-term deal with the New England Patriots. The Lions immediately pivoted and replaced Davis with the former Jets cornerback DJ Reed.
Detroit is hoping that the three-year, $48 million deal they signed Reed to will pay off, as Terrion Arnold-Reed cornerback duo hopefully help the Lions get back to a Super Bowl-caliber defense.
After signing with the Lions, Reed had said that the main reason he wanted to come to Detroit was to win a Super Bowl. Even after two months have passed since his arrival, Reed is still not over the fact that he is a Detroit Lion.
On Friday, the 28-year-old defender took to social media and shared his excitement about playing football with Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph.
Bro I’m playing w football w Brian Branch & Kerby Joseph🫣😵💫🤯.

Reed then added that it is about to be "legendary".

DJ Reed Can't Contain His Excitement About Being a Lion
The veteran cornerback's excitement further highlights how elite the Lions' secondary is. Despite the fact Reed has played with plenty of high-level players during his career, the prospect of playing with Branch and Joseph seems to be hitting Reed differently.
Not only has Reed played with Sauce Gardner over the past three years in New York, but he has also previously played postseason football during his time in Seattle and San Francisco.
Branch and Joseph have been two of the best players in their positions, so it is understandable that Reed would want to share the defensive backfield with the best of the best.
The responses to Reed's social media posts demonstrate how he is already becoming a fan favorite in Detroit even before taking a snap. Showing this level of excitement to wear a Lions uniform will make any player well-liked in Motown, but the only thing Lions fans care about is how well Reed performs on the field when the season opener comes around.
