The Detroit Pistons needed to find a sharpshooter from the perimeter after it became apparent that Malik Beasley's time with the franchise was not going to extend beyond the 2024-25 season, and they did just that by acquiring Duncan Robinson from the Miami Heat.

Robinson is as close to a three-point specialist as there is in the game today, and that will make him an immense asset in Detroit as a complement to former No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham and the rest of the Pistons' offensive attack.

With Detroit's summer league roster competing in Las Vegas, the newest member of the Pistons made the trip to spend time with his teammates, and the veteran had plenty to say about his fit in Detroit and why fans should expect great things out of this team moving forward.

New Piston Duncan Robinson Already Trying to Win Over Cunningham

While there is plenty of young, exciting talent up and down the Pistons' roster, the veteran swingman is especially excited to share the floor with Cunningham and believes the rising star will bring out the best in him as a player.

During a session with the media on Sunday, Robinson shared some of his memories from facing off against Detroit before diving into why the Pistons' style of play and its stars' approach to the game not only made Motor City an attractive destination for him.

"The thing that sticks out about this group is the physicality, their toughness, and how hard they play," Robinson said, per Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News. "And, honestly, how they share the ball. That's the type of system you want to play in. Those are the type of guys you want to be around. Cade is incredibly dynamic with the ball and took a major jump last year. I'm sure he's going to take a big one again this year. I'm excited to be around somebody like that who is such a willing passer and can also create and draw attention for himself as well."

There is no denying Detroit took a major jump this past season. If Robinson is correct, the Pistons have a legitimate chance to go even further during the 2025-26 campaign thanks to the additions made to the roster, their young stars having another year of experience under their belts, and the Eastern Conference being more wide open than fans have seen in quite some time.

For Robinson, that selfless approach on the offensive end, coupled with a dynamic playmaker in Cunningham serving as the team's floor general, the opportunity for the former Michigan Wolverines standout to significantly add to the over 1,200 three-pointers he's hit over his career should be as great as any he's enjoyed as a professional.
