The Detroit Lions have suddenly become one of the NFL's most popular teams, rising from the ashes to gain widespread popularity while head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes have transformed the organization's reputation.
Things are different now, evidenced by the Lions earning the rare distinction of playing in the preseason Hall of Fame Game despite not having any former players going into Canton.
In a surprise announcement revealed on Friday, the NFL revealed a slight change to the Lions' Thanksgiving Day game in 2025.

NFL Announces Change to Lions' Thanksgiving Day Game in 2025
In an announcement made by the league, the Lions' Thanksgiving Day kickoff has officially been moved to 1:00 PM ET as opposed to the traditional 12:30 PM ET kickoff. It's merely a minor adjustment, yet one that fans should note.
Detroit has typically been a laughingstock in these contests, never earning the respect that the franchise truly deserves. Things have changed under Campbell though, and now the Lions are a marquee "must-see" type of team who have demanded fans' attention. With Campbell calling the shots and rising star Jared Goff under center, Detroit has become maybe the NFL's most exciting team.
Things could change now that offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn are gone, though the NFL's brass clearly doesn't think so. With Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Aidan Hutchinson, and more on the roster, this is a squad deserving of attention.
We'll see how the 2025 campaign plays out, though Lions fans should expect to be a true contender. FanDuel Sportsbook gives Detroit the fifth-best odds (+1000) to hoist a Lombardi Trophy, and the general public expects that the Lions will at, the very least, compete for an NFC Championship.
Here's hoping those odds are correct, otherwise Detroit fans will be in for another long offseason.
