The Detroit Lions were the most penalized team by far following their Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday Night Football, and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown led the way.
All four of St. Brown's fines were for unsportsmanlike conduct, which the NFL described under the category of "illegal celebrations and vulgar acts," according to the league's official website.
Each fine cost the wideout $14,926, which comes to a total of just under $60,000 in fines for St. Brown alone over the weekend.
St. Brown said on Thursday, September 24 that he intends to appeal the fines.

"It's not good, man -- 14 something times four. You do the math," St. Brown said, per Nolan Bianchi of Detroit News. "But I'm gonna appeal it."

Wide receiver Jameson Williams also caught two fines for unsportsmanlike conduct, one for illegal celebrations and vulgar acts and the other for taunting. All told, he will pay the league just under $27,000 in penalties.
The NFL dinged both running back Jahmyr Gibbs and offensive tackle Penei Sewell with one fine each for unsportsmanlike conduct. Both will pay $14,926 in fines as a result.
Defensive tackle Tyler Lacy and linebacker Devin White each incurred one fine for unnecessary roughness connected to face-mask penalties. They paid a combined total of just north of $14,500.
All in, the Lions' roster incurred a total of around $132,000 in fines after falling to the Bills in Buffalo by a score of 41-31.
As expensive as Week 2 was, the most costly result was probably the loss. Detroit's offense looked elite in Buffalo, but the defense could not slow down MVP candidate Josh Allen and the Bills offense.
That does not bode well for a Lions defense that will have to contend with the likes of Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears twice inside the NFC North Division.
And while the Minnesota Vikings have been winning with defense through two weeks, quarterback Kyler Murray will be back and starting again in Week 3, which could mean the Vikings' offense levels up in a major way starting this Sunday.
Detroit will host the New York Jets at Ford Field on September 27 in a matchup between head coach Dan Campbell and former Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who took over as the Jets head coach in 2025.
