The NFL has found a way to stay relevant throughout the entire offseason. There are different events that catch the attention of fans, and the latest one is about the schedule.
The 2025 league schedule is set to be released on Wednesday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET. Although that's when the 18-week regular season schedule will be revealed, the NFL announced that the Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting the Dallas Cowboys on September 4th to kick off the new season.
While this rivalry is most of the most heated ones in the league, Lions star WR Amon-Ra St. Brown didn't get his wish.

Eagles Set to Host Cowboys to Week 1
During an appearance on YouTube's “Cold as Balls” video segment with comedian and Eagles superfan Kevin Hart back in April, St. Brown made it known he wanted to play Philadelphia in Week 1.
He said, "Hopefully we get you guys Week 1." This came after St. Brown said the Lions want to win the Super Bowl, and Hart replied, saying they can't because of the Eagles.
These two teams were the top seeds in the NFC last postseason, but Detroit wasn't able to hold their end of the bargain to play in the Conference Championship after losing in the Divisional Round to the Washington Commanders.
While St. Brown would have loved to travel to Philly for Week 1, that isn't in the cards. And you can't blame the league for that choice. Even though the Lions have a talented roster, their rivalry doesn't compare to what the Eagles and Cowboys have.
Granted, the matchup against the Eagles will likely still be in a primetime slot, but it won't be in Week 1. We'll have to wait and see where this matchup falls, and St. Brown will then get his chance to torch Philadelphia in an effort to secure a victory.
