The Detroit Lions are sitting with a 12-1 record after they defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-31 on Thursday Night Football. This was their 11th straight victory and they clinched a playoff berth.

Not only did they sweep the season series against the Packers but they also shut down a star receiver who talked some trash leading into the game.

Lions News: Detroit Held Jayden Reed to Zero Catches

In the win over Green Bay, the Lions held Packers receiver Jayden Reed to zero catches for zero yards. That is music to the ears of Lions fans, especially after Reed talked trash back in October.

He was a guest on the St. Brown Podcast, which is hosted by Amon-Ra and his brother Equanimeous St. Brown.

These division rivals had some friendly trash talk during the episode, where Reed said he was itching to come to Detroit.

"Wait until I come to Detroit. And I heard about you. Someone wanted to be a Packer. But we’re not gonna say no names."

Reed was hinting at St. Brown wanting to be a Packer during the 2021 NFL Draft.

The USC product then responded saying, "And someone thought he was gonna be a Lion. But we aren’t going to say no names."

Despite talking up himself on the podcast, Reed came out and had his worst game of the season. This was the only contest of the 2024 campaign where he logged zero catches and zero yards.

In Week 9, Reed finished with five catches for 113 yards but failed to replicate that kind of performance in front of rowdy Lion fans. The common denominator in both these games is that Detroit came away with the win.

Detroit's win on Thursday Night Football continues to highlight their recent dominance over the Packers. The Lions have won six of the last seven games against Green Bay.

They are one of the most aggressive teams in the NFL, and that was on full display in the fourth quarter when they decided to go for it on fourth and inches deep in Green Bay's territory. Instead of allowing the Packers to have a chance at getting the football again, they went it and got the first down. That allowed them to milk out the clock and kick the game-winning 35-yard field goal.

And that's what great teams do.
