The Detroit Pistons have seen the first of their three veteran perimeter players who were eligible to enter free agency this summer come to an agreement on a new deal that will relocate him from Motor City to the West Coast.
According to a report from Fred Katz of The Athletic, veteran point guard Dennis Schroder has come to terms on a contract with the Sacramento Kings. Sacramento had been rumored as one of the potential destinations for Schroder if he were to leave the Pistons this summer, something Schroder had recently stated he would prefer not to do if it were left up to him.
Pistons Let Free Agent Desperate to Stay in Detroit Walk in Big Mistake
This past week, Schroder conducted a live stream with his followers and answered a series of questions, one in particular should have stuck out to Detroit fans. In his own words, Schroder said he wants to remain in Detroit, but he let his fans know that the Pistons will not be waiting on him.
"I want to stay in Detroit for sure, but Detroit ain't waiting for me, I can tell you that much,"Â Schroder said Saturday.

Schroder joined the Pistons as a replacement for recent first-round pick Jaden Ivey, who missed the end of the 2024-25 campaign after suffering a broken left fibula. As Detroit fans know, Schroder played a key role in helping the Pistons end their playoff drought and push the New York Knicks to the limit in their first-round playoff series.
In 28 appearances for Detroit, Schroder averaged 10.8 points, 5.2 assists, and 2.6 rebounds in just over 25 minutes per game. His presence with the second unit was a big boost for the team down the stretch and into the postseason.
With Ivey set to return to the fold this season, though, the same need for Schroder wasn't there anymore, and that had to play into Trajan Langdon's decision to let him walk as a free agent. Whether that was the right decision or not will be something Pistons fans will figure out on their own sooner rather than later.
