The Detroit Pistons have a decision to make about what the future will look like at a key position on the floor following the 2025-26 season.
With young talent up and down the roster, the time was always going to come when veteran forward Tobias Harris aged out of the window the Pistons have to make a deep run in the Eastern Conference. Barring an in-season trade where Harris is moved as an expiring deal, the former Tennessee Volunteers standout will be in the starting lineup this fall when Detroit opens the regular season campaign.
Who will fill that role beyond this season, however, is a different question. Luckily, an intriguing option remains out there for Trajan Langdon to pursue, if he chooses to do so.
Based on word at Summer League, it seems like Jonathan Kuminga’s situation will continue to drag on, possibly into August.

The two sides have remained far apart in negotiations, including this week at Summer League.
Rival teams believe Kuminga doesn’t want to return.
Pistons May Have Kuminga Fall into Their Lap After Latest Drama
There is currently no place for Jonathan Kuminga on the Golden State Warriors roster. Steve Kerr essentially said so last season when speaking with the media about the restricted free agent's situation.
The Warriors don't want to pay Kuminga what he is seeking because Kerr does not feel comfortable playing him. That stalemate isn't likely to change anytime soon, according to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, opening the door for another team to scoop him up.
Golden State dragging this process out is lowering the former lottery pick's trade value. Given the fact the Pistons are not desperate to acquire a power forward at this moment, they can afford to wait things out and see if Kuminga's price drops even more than it already has.
Detroit's need for a power forward closer to the age range of the team's core of Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, and Ausar Thompson can wait until the summer of 2026. Even if they don't pursue Kuminga heavily, 2024 lottery pick Ron Holland II has been a standout during Vegas Summer League play and could grow into the role that Harris will be rescinding after the 2025-26 season.
With that being said, acquiring a 22-year-old forward at a potential discount is worth exploring for Detroit at the very least.
