The Detroit Pistons are in a position where making a move for a superstar makes sense, and the biggest name that is rumored to hit the market would be a perfect fit in Motor City.

The partnership between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks appears to be coming to an end sooner rather than later. The franchise is already planning conversations between the front office and the former MVP concerning his future with the team. If Antetokounmpo makes it known that he wants out of Milwaukee, the Pistons can make as strong of an offer as any team.

Pistons’ Projected Antetokounmpo Trade Makes Sense For Both Sides

There is no doubt that the Pistons would be giving up a ton in this projected trade. That is the cost of business, though, when attempting to swing a deal for a generational superstar like Antetokounmpo. If you want to play with the big boys, then you have to take big swings when the opportunities arise, and the Greek Freak checks all of the boxes in terms of what you'd want in return on a trade like this.

Adding Antetokounmpo to the fold and pairing him with Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren would give Detroit a core that could cause havoc on both ends of the floor. Defensively, their length would provide the Pistons with the ability to switch on most screens and eliminate the matchups opposing offenses would seek out.

Offensively, Antetokounmpo would raise the floor for each of his teammates. We have seen this in Milwaukee during his time with the Bucks. Opposing defenses have to account for where he is on the floor at all times, which opens up clean looks at the basket for the other four players on the floor.

Trading three players and multiple future first-round picks is a gamble. There is no doubt about that. When the rare opportunity to bring a player the caliber of Antetokounmpo comes up, teams in positions where the Pistons are now must take action and not play it safe.

Given that Antetokounmpo is under contract and will be for the next two seasons, at least, the Bucks won't feel pressured to give in to any sort of demands made by the former MVP and his camp. Milwaukee will act in line with what works best for their franchise moving forward. This projected offer from Detroit would fit the bill in terms of the return the Bucks will be looking for in any potential deal.
