The Detroit Pistons are expected to be active this offseason as the team looks to take the next step after ending its playoff drought during the 2024-25 campaign.
With a franchise cornerstone for the future in place at point guard in All-Star Cade Cunningham, the Pistons front office can shoot for the stars this summer, and it appears as though that will be their plan.
According to longtime NBA insider Marc Stein, Detroit has plans to upgrade its frontcourt as the franchise reportedly has its eye on a pair of talented big men who have been standouts during the 2025 playoffs.
Myles Turner and Naz Reid Reportedly on Pistons' Radar
The Pistons have a pair of big men on the roster in Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart, who are handfuls for the opposition in the paint. While those two are forces in the paint, neither is much of a threat from the perimeter on the offensive end. Whether it is Turner or Reid, the addition of either big man would immediately address that need.
Turner will be an unrestricted free agent this summer while Reid holds a player option for the 2025-26 season that conventional wisdom would suggest he will opt out of. Either way, the two will be among the most in-demand big men on the market. Given the desire to have big men who can stretch the floor on your roster, Detroit has good reason for being interested in adding one of them to the fold.
If the Pistons front office feels that a player of this mold is what they're missing, then Detroit should have the ability to free up the money needed to make an attractive offer to either big man. The Indiana Pacers and Minnesota Timberwolves, respectively, will not just let their players walk to Motor City without making any effort to retain them, however.
With the centers on Detroit's roster combining to make just 25 3-pointers over the 82-game regular season schedule, finding more long-range shooting options looks to be a priority for the team this summer.
