The Detroit Pistons have reportedly put a premium on perimeter shooting this summer, as many of the names the franchise has been linked to, regardless of their position, are capable of stretching the floor on the offensive end.

With players like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Malik Beasley able to test the open market this offseason, the threat of Detroit losing two of its best perimeter options in the coming weeks is very real. This only adds to the importance of making sure that shooting is a top priority for Trajan Langdon and the front office.

NBA teams can never have enough floor spacers on the roster, and the Pistons appear to be very well aware of that fact entering this summer. One of their rumored targets this July could be less available than previously thought, however.

Chris Finch Throws Cold Water on Detroit's Pursuit of Naz Reid

Minnesota Timberwolves big man Naz Reid has been mentioned as a potential target of the Pistons for quite some time. While Detroit has two solid big men already on the roster in Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart, neither is much of a threat to step away from the paint, face up against their defender, and knock down a perimeter jumper.

Even though he won't be the one ultimately cutting the checks this summer, Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch was asked on Tuesday about Reid's future with the franchise, and he left no doubt about whether he expects Reid to remain in Minnesota moving forward, per Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.

Reid can decline the player option included in his contract for the 2025-26 season and enter unrestricted free agency. The expectation has been that Reid will do just that as he stands to make much more on the open market than he would with the salary he has in place for this coming season.

These comments from Finch suggest Minnesota is well aware of the interest Reid will have across the league and plans to do what they can from a financial perspective to make him stay in the Twin Cities.

In the end, though, it is a decision that lies solely on the shoulders of Reid. We have seen free agents elect to take less money to head to a destination that would be more conducive to their development and upside as a player before. If Reid feels the same way about the Pistons as their front office does about him, we could see a similar scenario play out this summer.
