The Detroit Pistons are coming off the best season the franchise has enjoyed since the 2015-16 campaign. You wouldn't think that was the case if you took a look at the odds to win the Central Division ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, though.

With the Milwaukee Bucks one unhappy Giannis Antetokounmpo moment away from being without a true superstar, the Indiana Pacers losing Tyrese Haliburton for the entire season with a torn Achilles, and the Chicago Bulls simply continuing to exist in the manner they're currently operated, the Pistons are, at worst, the second-best team in the division.

Despite all of that being the case, Detroit currently has odds of +700 on FanDuel Sportsbook to top the Cleveland Cavaliers in the division. This division could already be a two-team race from October through early April based on how these rosters look at this time.

The Cavaliers are quite good. There is no debating that fact. Are they good enough to have to bet roughly four times the amount of your wager to double your money? That is the question that fans must ask, as the same sportsbook that lists the Pistons at +700 to win the Central Division has the Cavaliers as a -380 favorite.

It is worth noting that Cleveland's odds of winning the Central Division are higher than the odds of any other team winning its respective division. This includes the reigning NBA champions, as the Oklahoma City Thunder are -370 to win the Southwest Division.

This isn't a betting tip by any stretch of the imagination. I am not a professional gambler and would never pass myself off as such. All it takes is one injury to a key player to turn a team's aspirations upside down, though.

Darius Garland is already likely to miss time to start the season with a toe injury. If Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, or Jarrett Allen were to go down at any point during the 2025-26 campaign, the door opens even wider for the Pistons to make their move.

At +700 odds, that is a proposition that could be worth exploring further if you are inclined to tie up any amount of money in a season-long wager.
