The Detroit Pistons outperformed all expectations during the 2024-25 campaign before pushing the New York Knicks to the limit in the opening round of the playoffs.
Like every other franchise, the Pistons have their eye on the future as the NBA Draft and free agency are on the horizon, and one player in particular could be a perfect fit in Detroit.
While there will be plenty of options for the front office to consider, the power forward position has been an area that Pistons fans have been clamoring for an upgrade. Hunter Patterson of The Athletic has presented fans with several potential fits to address the power forward position.
Pistons Urged to Target Naz Reid This Offseason
Reid makes sense for Detroit for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, the 26-year-old is coming off of one of the best seasons of his career and should only continue to improve as he enters his prime. Second, Reid's age perfectly aligns with the other cornerstone pieces of the roster, as Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren are all in their early to mid-20s. Finally, unlike the other young big men on the roster, Reid has proven he can be a reliable 3-point shooter. That would provide Cunningham with another weapon to utilize in pick-and-pop situations.
Tobias Harris is currently entrenched as the starting power forward for the Pistons, and that is unlikely to change during the 2025-26 campaign. The former Tennessee Volunteers standout will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026, though, so adding a player like Reid now would help Detroit's front office get ahead of the curve.
Whether it is Reid or someone else, the power forward position is an area the Pistons will have to address sooner or later. Being aggressive in that pursuit could pay dividends for them and appease the wishes of their fans.
