The Detroit Lions enter the 2025 season with a stacked cornerback room. Veteran D.J. Reed is the leader. Second-year corners, Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw, are expected to take a step forward. Arnold's progression is paramount, though, as he will be starting opposite Reed.
Amik Robertson rounds off the starting cornerbacks, in the slot, with players like Khalil Dorsey and Rakestraw as the backups. That said, one former Lion defender who was sidelined for half of the 2024 season is now fully recovered and looking for a new job.
Former Lions Safety Quandre Diggs Is Looking for a New Job
According to Ian Rapoport, after suffering a Lisfranc injury in 2024, Quandre Diggs is now fully healthy and cleared to play in 2025, and he expects to be on the field.

Lions fans are familiar with Diggs, given that he began his career in Detroit. In four and a half seasons with the team, he recorded 235 tackles, one sack, 24 pass deflections, six interceptions, and one forced fumble. Furthermore, he only had one season where he graded under a 60.0 in pass coverage, according to PFF.
Diggs' solid play was enough to earn him a three-year $20.4 million contract extension going into the 2018 season. However, to the displeasure of Lions fans, he was traded just one season afterwards. Not only were Lions fans caught off guard by the move, but the then-26-year-old was too.
When asked about the trade at the time, Diggs said, "They said they just wanted to send me to Seattle. The whole team-captain aspect, that's tough..
He added, "I worked my tail off for those guys in that locker room. I changed the way I went about business around there. It's tough, like I said, to leave those guys. I'll miss those guys, but I guess that's just how things go." It's clear that getting traded didn't sit right with him, and it shouldn't have.
Diggs had become a leader in the locker room and someone who fans enjoyed watching. For Detroit's coaching staff at the time to decide to move on for no real reason is baffling.
Nevertheless, Diggs went on to have a solid five years with the Seahawks before going to Tennessee last year. Now 31, it will be interesting to see if there is any interest for him at this point in the offseason. No matter what happens, Lions fans will always respect Diggs for his time in Detroit.
