The Detroit Lions have their work cut out for them this offseason to return to the postseason, and the offensive line will be at the top of the list. While Taylor Decker is set to return, the center position is an area that can use an upgrade.

Graham Glasgow has one year left on his deal, but his replacement may have just fallen into Detroit's lap. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that the Washington Commanders are releasing center Tyler Biadasz.

With less than two weeks to go before free agency, it isn't hard to see why Biadasz should be on the Lions' radar moving forward.

Tyler Biadasz Could Give Lions an Ideal Graham Glasgow Replacement

The Lions moved Glasgow over to center in 2025 after Frank Ragnow retired. And while he's suited up there before, it wasn't a good showing this past season. According to Pro Football Focus, Glasgow had a 56.8 overall grade (33rd among 40 graded centers), 54.3 run-blocking grade (36th among 40 graded centers), and a 61.3 pass-blocking grade (26th among 40 graded centers). He allowed 19 total pressures and eight quarterback hits.

As for Biadasz, he played fairly well for the Commanders last season. On PFF, he logged a 70.7 overall grade (11th among 40 graded centers), 71.2 run-blocking grade (12th among 40 graded centers), and a 67.1 pass-blocking grade (18th among 40 graded centers). In addition, he gave up 21 pressures but allowed zero quarterback hits.

Biadasz is five years younger than Glasgow and has shown the ability to be a quality run blocker. Over the last three seasons, he has finished with a 68.0 or higher run blocking grade on PFF, and that is something that will be tempting to Detroit. That's especially true with offensive coordinator Drew Petzing in the mix after Arizona's rushing offense finished seventh or better in two of his three seasons calling the shots.

The Lions need to ensure they build an offensive line that will keep QB Jared Goff upright while creating holes in the run game. Biadasz is an option that could help Detroit achieve both of those things, and wasn't a choice at the beginning of the week.

With free agency two weeks away, the Lions would be wise to craft a plan to pursue the Wisconsin product. Just because a player gets released doesn't mean he can play well. A lot of decisions are financial, and that was the case here. This gives the Lions a chance to upgrade at center, and they should take full advantage.
