The Detroit Red Wings wrap up their four game road trip tonight against the New York Rangers. The Red Wings are winless so far on this road trip.

The Detroit Red Wings got a point last night but still ended up losing in the shootout. The Ottawa Senators tied the game late in the third thanks to Dion Phaneuf scoring his first goal as a Senator.

Petr Mrazek had a rebound game against the Senators. He stopped 25 Ottawa shots including a robbery of Bobby Ryan late in overtime to get the game in the shootout.

The Red Wings were without Dylan Larkin as he was out with a sickness. Coach Blashill, as of this writing, was unsure if Larkin is playing tonight.

To make matters worse, the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers all won, which dropped Detroit to fourth place in the Atlantic Division. Although the Red Wings are in fourth they currently are only two points behind Boston for second.

Tonight, the Red Wings face a tough Rangers team that is 21-6-3 at home. The Rangers have won seven out of their last ten games and they are also in the top five in goals per game.

Here is all the important information for tonight’s game:

The Detroit Red Wings look to end their five game losing streak on the road, which is their longest streak since they lost seven in a row back in 2012.

Jeff Blashill hasn’t named a goalie as of this writing but I would guess it would be Jimmy Howard. It’s the back end of a back to back and that’s usually when Blashill gives Howard a shot.

If it is Howard the Red Wings need their defense to be way better then it was the last time Howard started. This is going to be a tough game for the Red Wings no matter who starts. Hopefully Dylan Larkin will return, which will give the offense a needed boost tonight.

The Red Wings have three games left before the trade deadline and I think it’s obvious that the Red Wings need to make a move for a veteran defenseman. Do you guys agree or do you think they need a trade for offense?
