The Detroit Red Wings look to extend their winning streak to four games tonight as they travel to Buffalo to face the Sabres.

The Detroit Red Wings head to Buffalo tonight looking to extend their winning streak to four games. On Wednesday night, the Red Wings beat the Boston Bruins in very impressive fashion. The Red Wings were down by three goals twice.

The Bruins scored three goals in the first nine minutes of the game and scored the first goal just 44 seconds into the game. Those three goals got Jared Coreau pulled and Petr Mrazek played the rest of the game. This is the second time that Coreau was pulled the game after he got a shutout.

Dylan Larkin would get the Red Wings on the board but late in the first the Bruins would make it a three goal game again. In the second period, Xavier Ouellet and Andreas Athanasiou would get the Red Wings back into it. Tomas Tatar would tie the game but just 20 seconds later the Bruins would regain the lead. Gustav Nyquist would tie the game late in the third to force overtime and the Red Wings ended up winning in a shootout.

Henrik Zetterberg said he almost has to apologize for that first period. The Red Wings were awful in the first but thankfully they regrouped and got a big win.

Getting two points after an awful first period was impressive. The Red Wings are now six points back of Boston and Ottawa for second place in the division and four points behind Philadelphia for the Wild Card.

Tonight, the Red Wings are in Buffalo to face the Sabres. The Sabres have lost three of four whereas the Red Wings have won three straight. Darren Helm might come back tonight and if he does Steve Ott will go on injured reserve according to Ansar Khan.

With Helm and Niklas Kronwall nearing returns, the Red Wings are going to have to send someone to Grand Rapids. I think we can all agree that Anthony Mantha and Andreas Athanasiou are not the ones to be sent down.
