The Michigan football team announced the kickoff time and television network for their 2017 opening game against the Florida Gators.

The Michigan football team will open the 2017 season against the Florida Gators on Saturday, September 2. They announced the start time and TV network for the game today on Twitter.

They also note that we still have 100 days to go until college football returns on Labor Day weekend.

The Wolverines and Gators last met in the Citrus Bowl on January 1, 2016 with Michigan coming away with a dominant 41-7 victory. Michigan out-gained Florida 503 yards to 273 yards and controlled the ball for more than 38 of the game’s 60 minutes.

This year’s game will kick off Jim Harbaugh’s third year at the helm of the Michigan football program, and expectations are high. Early top 25 rankings have put Michigan in the top 10 in the country despite significant losses on the defensive side of the ball.

Michigan finished ranked No. 12 then No. 10 in the AP poll in Harbaugh’s first two years with the program and are back in the conversation with perennial national powers.

High-profile games like this one against Florida could launch the Wolverines into the College Football Playoff discussion in the early going. Ultimately, however, they’ll have to take care of business in the Big Ten before any of that conversation becomes relevant.
