1 of 6

The Detroit Lions preseason is back in full swing tonight as the Lions head out west to take on the Oakland Raiders. Preseason football is a time of year not focused on wins or losses, but rather evaluating talent and building continuity.

More from Detroit Lions

In Detroit’s first preseason action of the year, the Lions were able to knock off the Cleveland Browns and the Johnny Football mania, 13-12. More importantly however, were the great things that the Lions were able to take away from the matchup. Both Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and head coach Jim Caldwell were said to be pleased with the outcome of last Saturday’s game.

Detroit’s offensive starters, including Stafford, played just one series in the team’s preseason opener. That was enough for Stafford to get a feel for live, game action for the first time in a long while.

"“It was good to get our feet wet, mix some personnel groupings,” Stafford said. “We were obviously set up by a great kick return and had a decent little drive, got some points, so it was a good start.”"

Tonight’s matchup against the Raiders will have no shortage of things to keep your eyes on during the game if you’re a Lions fan. In fact, before the game gets underway, lets take a look at the Top 5 players to watch in tonight’s matchup.
