Training camp is over and the Detroit Lions are halfway through the preseason. Now comes the task of making cuts to get down to the 53 man roster.

While some players are worried about whether they will make the cut, others have yet to see a snap during the preseason.  Calvin Johnson hasn’t played a down yet this preseason and although there is no need for him to prove himself, it will still be nice to see him finally take the field. According to Megatron that will happen during the 3rd preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

So who will survive to Detroit Lions roster cuts?  A number of pundits have their predictions and we bring them all to you here on the Detroit Jock City Morning Drive.

From MLive: Projecting the Detroit Lions roster cuts

"The Detroit Lions have wrapped up training camp and arrived at the midway point of the preseason. With the first round of roster cuts on deck next week, here’s our projections for who we think will make the team."

From The Freep: Nick Fairley Last Of The 2011 Draftees

"The Lions entered the draft with six picks, used a couple as draft-day trading currency and walked away with five players, including three they thought would be pillars of their franchise. Not even four years later, the Lions have only two players from the 2011 draft left on their 90-man roster, and neither of those — Nick Fairley and Mikel Leshoure — has inspired much confidence this exhibition season."

From MLive: Matt Stafford Picks Apart Raiders Defense

"The Detroit Lions quarterback has a howitzer strapped to his right shoulder, and anyone who knows anything about the NFL will tell you about it. Yet Stafford has been mostly an average quarterback the past two years because of his decision-making."

From the Freep: Calvin Johnson Expects To Play Against Jags

"After sitting out the first two games of the preseason for precautionary reasons, Detroit Lions receiver Calvin Johnson said he expects to play this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars. “I’ll get some burn this game,” Johnson told the Free Press as he walked off the field after practice today. “I’ll get some plays in this game. I’ll feel good about it then.”"
