Michigan State Football Tailgate, Game Time Weather Report

Throughout the week a Winter Strom dumped about 3 inches of snow on East Lansing just ahead of the Michigan State Football game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights,  The snow fall is minor compared to reports for the western part of the state but was just enough to require a bit of a clean-up.

Pictures tweeted from the Michigan State Football twitter account show workers removing snow with leaf blowers in prepartation for the game at noon on Saturday.

Other than the clean-up prior to the game the snow will cause some problems for tailgate. Michigan State University police announced changes to parking related to the snow.  The announcement came via their facebook page earlier this evening.

Here are the details:

"Weather forces parking changes for football game day. Due to this week’s inclement weather, Munn Field and the other intramural fields will not be available for parking on game day for the MSU vs. Rutgers game.  Alternate public parking will be available at the former Michigan State Police Headquarters site, adjacent to Harrison Road directly west of the Breslin Arena. Student parking Lot 83, which is on Service Road just east of Harrison Road, also will have space available for the public. The student commuter lot at Farm Lane and Mt. Hope Road has ample capacity. Parking is free. A round trip shuttle ticket can be purchased for $5. Parking lots will open at 7:00 a.m. We ask that you be patient with the police officers and parking staff, especially as you depart the game."

Game Time Weather

Saturday’s weather report for East Lansing brings with it some warmer temperatures but also a strong chance of rain.

If you are headed out to the game first thing in the morning beware, there is a freezing rain advisory from 4am to 9am.  The rain is expected to continue throughout the morning and should stop around game time.  At kickoff the temperature should be about 38 degrees with winds coming from the SW at 13 MPH.
