Not only do ESPN Scouts Inc. and Walter Football list Waynes as a sure-fire first round draft pick, but both list him as the top cornerback available in the entire draft. Here’s what Walter Football has to say about his draft stock:
"In speaking with teams, Waynes is the consensus top-rated corner in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is the only corner getting hard consideration in the top half of the first round. At the Combine, Waynes locked up his standing as the top cornerback in the 2015 NFL Draft when he ran faster than expected and looked good in the field drills."
Lance Zierlein and Chad Reuter have him going #18 overall to the Kansas City Chiefs in their latest mock draft for NFL.com. Former Spartan teammate Darqueze Dennard called him a “Deion Sanders type shutdown corner”.
Nothing’s ever a sure thing until a player gets selected, but it would be shocking if Waynes doesn’t go on the first night of the draft. Listen for his name in the late teens.
