Jones was a solid contributor to the Michigan State defense as a two-year starter for the Spartans. He had mixed results at the NFL combine, but appears to be a solid prospect in the middle rounds of the 2015 NFL Draft. Here’s what NFL Draft Scout has to say:
"2015 Michigan State Pro day: Mid-round linebacker Taiwan Jones ran a disappointing 4.95 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, but he improved that number on Wednesday, running in the 4.72-4.78 range. He also boosted his result in the vertical jump (from 32-inches to 33.5-inches) and could be the first Spartan drafted this year not named Trae Waynes."
Walter Football gives Taiwan Jones a rather generic 4th-6th round projection, ESPN says fifth round, and NFLDraftScout.com gives a 4th-5th round projection. Jones went in the 4th round (#132 overall) in the latest NFL.com mock draft.
As with most of these mid-to-late round prospects, it’s hard to nail down an exact window, but it sounds like the 4th or 5th round would be a good spot for Jones.
