Help Detroit Red Wings Nyquist in Quest for Play of the Year

Missing Detroit Red Wings hockey yet? Yeah? Well we here understand and feel for you fully. Yet, what if I told you that you could help out a Red Wings player simply by going to a link and voting. Well, you can and it is super simple. Gustav Nyquist is still left in the TSN bracket for play of the year. He was in the bracket with teammate Henrik Zetterberg before the veteran was pushed out by Montreal Canadiens goal tender Carey Price.

Nyquist took on Jordan Eberle of the Edmonton Oilers last week and won. Now he takes on the player that beat his teammate, the goal tender Price. This is the play that Nyquist is riding through the play of the year bracket on.

I remember watching it when it happened live and thinking to myself, if he scores this puck and the team wins there is no way that you can’t call that the play of the year. Just watching it you get lost following him around the zone and you wonder if he is ever going to actually do anything with the puck. Then he just nicely flips it into the net and next thing you know the Red Wings pick up a win.

Yeah this play isn’t anything magical or a big fireworks show in itself, but, it does show how good of a hockey player that Nyquist is. He shows you how he can control the puck, he doesn’t foolishly hand it over and he doesn’t try to over do anything. That is what makes this play so amazing. Most would just take as many shots at the net as possible and not show the control that Nyquist had.

If you would like to vote for Nyquist in the play of the year bracket you can do so here.

Voting for the Price and Nyquist side of the bracket doesn’t open until June 4th. So you will have to wait a little while. Voting goes for 6 days and while you can’t watch any of the videos on the TSN website, you can vote if you are not in Canada. You are allowed to vote as many times as you want, only having to wait 5 seconds between each vote.

We as Red Wings fan can’t allow a Montreal Canadien to beat one of our own in a play of the year bracket. Price was the one who knocked out Zetterberg earlier in the bracket and now this is the pay back from the fans. I would suggest you vote your heart out, show all of your Red Wings pride. At the end of the day it is better to go down swinging rather than not swinging at all.

The Nyquist and Price bracket opens up on the 4th of June, don’t forget to go vote for your Red Wings player. Let’s not get beaten by a Montreal player, we may never live that down. So get out and vote on June 4th!
