Top Player in Round 2: Calvin Johnson

Megatron.  You don’t get a nickname like that by being your prototypical Wide Receiver, as Johnson is one of a kind and has no equal when it comes to physical attributes (watch for an upcoming column about how awesome I think he is). Ankle injuries have made us quickly forget how amazing Johnson was, as he was almost the first player ever to amass 2,000 receiving yards in a season.

Those injuries limited Megatron to only 1,077 and 8 TDs last year, which is why his ADP is 19th overall. Granted, this is Detroit Jock City, and most likely any league you’re in is littered with Lion fans (pun somewhat intentional), so I doubt Johnson would be around near the end of round 2.

Even so, getting him in any part of the round to me is a steal, as I think he will be back to producing first round numbers.

Other Players I Like: Honestly, looking at the list I really like the talent in this round better than I do in round 1.  Lots of exciting names here, as I love the talent and situations for Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, Odell Beckham Jr., and Jordy Nelson.  Gronk too, though I’m still on the fence about picking a TE at this stage, so maybe later in the round and then I’d bite.

Players I’d avoid: LeSean McCoy is less of a risk to me than Murray, but he’s still changing teams and systems. Not many backs do that and perform at a top-level. Julio Jones has talent, but has had too many single digit games to go with his 40 pt ones for my comfort zone, especially compared to the other guys in the round. Andrew luck, I love him, but see previous comment about Aaron Rodgers. Jeremy Hill just bores me.
