With the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes and new superstar head coach Jim Harbaugh residing in the same division of the same conference, one could be forgiven if they temporarily forget about the Michigan State Spartans and the string of tremendous success they’ve had under head coach Mark Dantonio.

The Michigan State football team is coming off of five straight winnings seasons (with an average of more than 10 wins in that stretch), four consecutive bowl game victories, and two consecutive top-five finishes nationally in both the AP poll and the coaches poll.
But Mark Dantonio’s Spartans aren’t satisfied with what they’ve achieved in the past. With a top-five ranking in the Associated Press college football poll (a top-four ranking in the Detroit Jock City Top 25 poll) and a quarterback who is on the periphery of the Heisman Trophy conversation, Michigan State has hopes of a Big Ten championship and a College Football Playoff berth.
But to achieve all that, the Michigan State football team will have to trudge through grueling campaign of pride and emotion that is the college football season. What follows is a prediction for how each week’s contest might play out.
