College Football Top 25 Rankings Week 3: Michigan State Climbs to Number 3

Michigan State‘s big win over Oregon helps them narrowly edge out TCU for the third spot in this week’s Detroit Jock City college football Top 25 poll. Oregon wasn’t punished too severely for their competitive road loss, they fall just two spots (but remain in the Top 10) to number nine.

Two other teams did fall out of the Top 10 this week, however. Notre Dame‘s last second win over Virginia precipitated a drop from nine to 12. Auburn escaped embarrassment by pulling out an overtime win over FCS Jacksonville State, but the ugly win caused them to plunge from number six all the way down to 18.

Two new Big Ten teams jumped into the rankings. Wisconsin checks back in at number 22 after a one-week hiatus, and Northwestern debuts this week at number 25. Also entering the top 25 for the first time are BYU and Kansas State at numbers 23 and 24 respectively.
