Joel Greer

Now a contributor for FanSided's Detroit Jock City, Joel was born in Detroit and soon became an avid fan of the city's sports teams. A sound athlete as well, Joel captained the "infamous" Cass Tech golf team before pursuing a journalism career at the student-run Michigan Daily. He's especially proud of the relationships he developed with Wolverine football coach Bo Schembechler, hockey coach Al Renfrew and athletic director Don Canham. Joel has carried the moniker "Michigan Fats" for years, mostly due to his (lack of) billiard prowess in the Michigan Union poolroom. After moving on to the Ann Arbor News and later the Detroit/Ann Arbor Sun. Joel more recently spent four years with Bleacher Report and two with MgoTalk.
