Michigan vs. Northwestern: Game Time, TV Schedule, Live Stream

The only college football game this week that features two top-20 teams is the will be the one between the No. 18 Michigan Wolverines and No. 13 Northwestern Wildcats.

Two of biggest surprise teams in the Big Ten this season, Michigan and Northwestern are both coming off highly impressive shutout victories in their respective Big Ten openers last week.

Expect a low scoring affair in this one as well. Northwestern ranks first overall in the nation in points allowed per game (7.0) while Michigan ranks second (7.6). In terms of total yard allowed, Michigan ranks second in the country at 920, while Northwestern ranks tenth at 1,237.

It’s unlikely to be a pretty game, unless you like fiercely competitive defensive performances. It’s easy to envision the game hinging on one or two untimely turnovers for either side or a big play that happens to break loose.

In games like this, where the margin for error is small either way, the home field would seem to be a huge advantage.

As a member of the Big Ten West, Northwestern does not have to face either Ohio State or Michigan State this season, so a win against Michigan would set them up nicely for an eventual Big Ten Championship berth (though they still have Wisconsin on the schedule).

A win would also obviously be huge for Michigan, but with the Spartans waiting in the wings next week, and the Buckeyes closing out the regular season schedule once again, a win on Saturday only puts them so far ahead.
