The Lions brought in Rafael Bush and Tavon Wilson following the departures of Isa Abdul-Quddus and James Ihedigbo but neither Bush or Wilson got long-term deals.

Miles Killebrew could be the long-term solution they need at strong safety and having other options in place for 2016 buys the Lions some time before expecting Killebrew to hold down a starting spot.

A strong safety could be a consideration as early as the second round but if that doesn’t happen, as is the case in this scenario, Killebrew becomes a really nice target here in the fourth. A four-year starter in the Southern Utah defenisve backfield, Killebrew can play both the run and the pass.

While year one will be too early to expect much more than spot-duty on defense, Killebrew has the potential to develop into a starting strong safety while playing on special teams early in his career.
