Marc Krauss’ tenure as a Tiger isn’t entirely forgettable, but that’s mainly owing to him being on the team just last season.

When a baseball organization heads into a season with Miguel Cabrera at first base and Victor Martinez at designated hitter, they don’t spend a lot of time looking for extra burly hitter types. When you don’t plan for extra hitter types you end up with Marc Krauss.

When Miguel Cabrera hit the disabled list with a strained calf, the Tigers put in a waiver claim on Krauss. Here’s what first base coach Dave Clark had to say about him after he was claimed.

"“There’s definitely some power there.”"

There was some power there — Krauss put up a .091 isolated slugging average and hit a singular home run as a member of the Tigers — but what there wasn’t much of was contact ability or any plate discipline to speak of. Krauss struck out 13 times in his 33 plate appearances and failed to draw a single walk.

He spent 25 days on the big league roster before being sent to AAA to finish out the season.

Kruass opened the 2016 season in AAA for the New York Mets.
