Second Base: Kevin Hooper

Years with Tigers: 2005-2006
Batting line: 12 PA, .125/.222/.125

At 5-10, 160 pounds, Kevin Hooper gave hope to every average Joe who has ever watched baseball and thought they, too, could be a professional athlete.

Average Joes can’t play in the major leagues, though, and Kevin Hooper was a million times better and baseball than they (we?) could ever dream of being.

Hooper first appeared for the Tigers for six games in 2005 and then another eight games in 2006. He made just one start between the two seasons and tallied 12 total plate appearances with one single and one walk on the positive side of his ledger.

Hooper used his short time on the active roster to fill all sorts of roles for the ball club. He appeared in games as a left fielder, second baseman, shortstop, third baseman, pinch hitter, and pinch runner.

Despite his super utility status (or perhaps because of it), Hooper can only claim one career multi-plate appearance game.

Hooper played one more season in Toledo in 2007, his final year of affiliated ball, and then spent 2008 playing independent league baseball.
