The Offense

Matthew Stafford leads the offense with an 85 rating, which seems about right, 11th overall among quarterbacks, in between Tony Romo and Philip Rivers. With a throw power rating of 98 and accuracy ratings in the upper 80s, he’ll be able to make just about any throw you ask him to, and his 74 speed is decent for a quarterback.

Tate leads the receiving corps with an 89, and most of his main receiving skills, catching, awareness and speed are in the low 90s. Marvin Jones is the highest-rated free agent acquisition for the Lions at 82, and newly-signed Anquan Boldin is graded at 79. Eric Ebron‘s low awareness and catching ratings leave him with a 76 overall grade, the best among the Lions’ tight ends.

More from Detroit Lions

The running game is led by fullback Michael Burton, who jumped to a respectable 83 this year after being given a 64 in 2016. Theo Riddick is the highest ranked running back on the roster at 81, and although his agility is 94, his 75 catch rating and 86 speed seem a little on the low side. Ameer Abdullah comes in at 78, but after him, no running back scores higher than Stevan Ridley‘s 71.

The offensive line is anchored by Riley Reiff, who is listed as a right tackle and has a rating of 83. Surprisingly, Geoff Schwartz is the next highest lineman on the roster and the highest-rated guard, coming in at 81 with the highest run block and awareness ratings on the line.

Rookie Taylor Decker starts at left tackle at a passable 76, but the rest of the line is pretty terrible. Michael Ola (?) and Larry Warford share a 74 rating while 2015 first-round pick Laken Tomlinson was graded at an abysmal 69 overall. None of the Lions’ three centers even reached a rank of 70. You might want to comb the free agent market to upgrade this group.
