The Detroit Red Wings head home tonight after losing to the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday. The Red Wings have lost three straight as they face the Jets.

The Detroit Red Wings lost again on Wednesday night in Philadelphia. The streak continues, the Red Wings have not won in regulation in Philadelphia since January 25th 1997.

This was a frustrating game for the Red Wings, as they led pretty much the entire game. Dylan Larkin and Andreas Athanasiou scored 16 seconds apart in the first period.

The Flyers would get a goal back in the second period and then tie it early in the third period. Henrik Zetterberg put the Red Wings up 3-2 eight minutes into the third period but sadly the Flyers would tie the game up again with just over a minute left.

In overtime, Darren Helm had a great opportunity but got to cute with the puck and ended up turning it over. That led to a two on one for the Flyers and Jakub Voracek buried a slap shot that beat Petr Mrazek.

The Red Wings did get a point but should’ve gotten two. After watching the game and seeing a lot of blame for Mrazek, I decided to rewatch the game to see if I was being to easy on Mrazek.

After watching the game again, my feelings did not change. With the exception of the winning goal I feel like Mrazek was good not great.

The third goal especially was not his fault, but that winning goal was on him in my opinion. I thought he played that two on one very poorly.

Most of the blame goes to Jeff Blashill (why wasn’t Athanasiou on the ice in OT?) and Darren Helm (why didn’t he shoot the puck?). Helm had at least three seconds of just him and Flyers goalie Michal Neuvirth.

That led to the winning goal…for the Flyers. Hopefully the Red Wings rebound tonight against the Winnpeg Jets.Detroit catches a break because the Jets actually played last night in Washington and lost in overtime 4-3. So the Jets have to travel from Washington D.C to Detroit in less than 24 hours. That should bode well for the Red Wings as they face a tired Jets team.
