The Detroit Jock City writers make their predictions for the Detroit Lions’ week 11 home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Here is what the Detroit Jock City staff sees for the game ahead.

Matt Pelc (4-5) – YOUR first place Detroit Lions are getting healthy and play the first of two home games this week as they welcome the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars into Ford Field. Will this be the first game of the season that the 5-4 Lions don’t win or lose by less than seven points?

More from Detroit Lions

It’s definitely possible, as the Jags have gone from sleeper preseason playoff pick, to having bad luck, to becoming an all-out trainwreck, but these are our Lions, and whenever we as fans get a little confident or overconfident, we painfully are reminded about this team’s last six decades.

This is a bit of a trap game for the Lions, who could easily be looking ahead to trying for another divisional win on Thanksgiving in the Minnesota rematch. Jacksonville has been formidable against the passing attack this season, something that could cause the Matthew Stafford and the Lions’ offense to stall. Blake Bortles could bust out of a disappointing season quickly against the bend-but-don’t-break defense, as we’ve seen with other questionable QB’s this season.

Yet when it comes right down to it, the Jaguars are a team in disarray, already looking toward next season. Yes, this will be the first “blow-out” of the season for the Lions, but don’t be shocked if the Jaguars make this a game. Lions 27, Jaguars 17

Erik Schlitt (3-6) – On paper this game looks to favor Detroit: Coming off a bye, almost completely healthy, and at home against a struggling 2-7 team. But this Jaguars team is better defensively than they are getting credit for. With a Top 5 pass defense, Jacksonville’s secondary will give the Lions problems. Led by stud rookie corner Jalen Ramsey, this unit will have to keep playing at a high level if they want to have a chance to slow down #9.

Offensively, the Jaguars have real talent at their skill positions. But, quarterback Blake Bortles is struggling, as is their run game, and it has resulted in the offense not living up to expectations. Turnovers have been a big part of the issue as Jacksonville has a -14 differential on the season. While Detroit has only managed seven turnovers in nine games, this game sets for them to add to that total. The Lions won’t need a fourth quarter comeback in this one. Lions 27, Jaguars 17

Zac Snyder (4-5) – This isn’t the kind of game that will tell us for sure if the Lions are contenders but it is the kind of game that could reveal them as pretenders. Simply, the Jaguars are not good, no matter how much draftniks have praised them the last couple of Aprils. Lions 27, Jaguars 20

Matt Snyder (4-5) – Will the Lions allow us to believe that the playoffs are in the cards this season? Is a division championship within reach? This is a game they must win if they hope to continue that march. I, however, will continue to guard my heart. Jaguars 27, Lions 24

Colton Wesley (4-5) -No pick
