Sergei Fedorov

Sergei Fedorov, along with Steve Yzerman, was the poster boy for the 90-00’s Red Wings. Fedorov was an all-around dynamo. Over the course of his 13 seasons as a Red Wing, Fedorov accumulated 954 points, 400 goals, and three Stanley Cups.

The 94/95 season saw Fedorov winning the Hart Trophy, as he set his highest single season point total; a staggering 120. Yet it was Fedorov’s defense that made him stand out from everybody else.

Fedorov’s two Frank Selke Trophies( awarded to the best defensive forward) are a testament to how great he was defensively. Former Detroit Red Wings head coach Scotty Bowman once stated that Fedorov would be a hall of fame defensemen, let alone center.

In fact, Fedorov was so defensively solid, that occasionally he would be shifted in as a defenseman.

Although he never quite reached the level of popularity and prestige that Yzerman did, Fedorov was undeniably a major player in the Red Wing’s success.
