Oklahoma State over Oklahoma

This one’s not an actual championship game, although the winner will end up winning the Big 12. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State meet in Norman (Saturday at 12:30 p.m. on FOX).

Neither are super strong candidates for a top-four position — Oklahoma enters the week at No. 9 and Oklahoma State at No. 10 — but the Sooners have a little better resume. Oklahoma State has bad-looking losses to Central Michigan and Baylor that would be holding them back.

The Big 12 was easily the worst of the power five conferences this season so it was difficult for the league to rack up quality wins inside the conference. Oklahoma’s big non-conference game was a blowout loss to Ohio State. Wins against West Virginia and (possibly) Oklahoma State could vault them into the fringes of the conversation, but they’re still not a great bet to pass Michigan in the final vote.

Better to be safe, however, and hope Oklahoma State knocks them off to officially eliminate the Big 12 from consideration.
