The on-field workout portion of the 2017 NFL Combine gets underway on Friday. Here is the workout schedule for running backs and offensive linemen.

It’s technically day three of the 2017 NFL Combine but it’s day one for the featured on-field drills. After two days filled with press conferences, interviews, measurements and medicals, the Underwear Olympics kick it up a notch today with the specialists, offensive linemen and running backs taking the Lucas Oil Stadium field to run, jump, dodge, dip, dive, duck, and dodge.

Here is a rundown of what to expect, with details for how you can follow along on Friday starting at 9 a.m. ET.

This may not be the biggest day for Detroit Lions fans to pay attention to given the current state of the team and comments recently made by general manager Bob Quinn. At his Combine press conference yesterday, Quinn expressed confidence in his current group of running backs, drawing into questions just how much of a need that position is in this draft.

The situation is a little different on the offensive line considering the Lions may lose the entire starting right side of their 2016 line in free agency. However, Quinn’s first draft as general manager of the Lions included three offensive linemen, and this draft is not regarded as particularly strong for offensive linemen. Add in a report that guard may be a position the Lions look to spend on in free agency and it appears offensive linemen won’t be a primary focus in the pre-draft process.

Perhaps the running back talk was a bit of smokescreening and it remains to be seen if the Lions really do spend big on the offensive line in free agency. A lot can happen between now and the start of the draft.

Groups 4-6 will hit the field tomorrow. Those groups include quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends.
